When it comes to posters, they can come in both glossy and matte finishes, each offering unique visual characteristics. Glossy posters have a shiny, reflective surface that enhances colors and creates a vibrant, glossy effect. On the other hand, matte posters have a non-reflective, smooth surface that gives a more subdued and sophisticated appearance.
In my experience as an art expert, I prefer to print my designs on 180 gsm matte paper. Matte paper provides a luxurious feel and offers excellent color reproduction without the glare and reflection often associated with glossy finishes. Additionally, matte paper tends to be more durable and resistant to fingerprints, making it ideal for long-term display.
Ultimately, whether to choose glossy or matte posters depends on personal preference and the desired aesthetic for the space where the poster will be displayed. However, for my designs, I find that 180 gsm matte paper complements the artwork beautifully, offering a timeless and elegant finish.
